Artist’s Profile
MARGO HARRISON
Realism-Expressionism
Fort Langley, Canada
Born in 1945 in Vancouver, Margo was raised near Ladysmith on Vancouver Island. She studied fine arts at the University of Victoria and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1967.
From 1967 to 1972, Margo taught “Painting in the Parks” classes for the Federation of Canadian Artists. For thirty-four years before retiring in 2002, she was a teacher and art specialist in the Surrey School District.
In 1985, she started painting using watercolour as her art medium, then switched to mixed media and acrylics in 2004.
Margo also sculpts. Her magnificent hands can make life-size figures of sleeping cats out of clay—Comfort Cats. Her three-dimensional cat creations are famous and are finding their way into homes all over the world.
What do collectors love about Margo’s breathtaking masterpieces?
• Her works are often in a series. She explores an idea, so people can connect deeply to her art and see the beauty of it.
• She focuses on light, shadows, shapes, and textures—the combination of all these gives depth and makes the work stand out.
• She’s good at narrowing the field of vision.
• When you see her work, you will feel uplifted, relaxed, or calmed, inspired, and motivated to live life today.
